geek oracle: Firefox bookmarks

My iMac just died, and I’ve replaced it with a real Mac. I’ve got the old disk in a USB enclosure, but I can’t find the Firefox bookmarks to import them. Anyone know what the file is called, or where it would be stored?

I found one file in users/library/firefox(possibly some other stuff)/bookmarks.html , but there are just two bookmarks in there. It’s no big deal, but I’m awful damn curious.

TIA, Charlie

you’ll have to translate this into Mac…
C:\Documents and Settings_User_\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\b7e1j1s9.default\Bookmarks.html

Try looking for files that START with Book* . I’m using a PC, and Firefox automatically is backing up 5 days of bookmark files. These are stored in my Application Data area, under my default Profile folder. Today’s is named “bookmarks-2008-01-07.html”. Let’s see, I have a Powerbook here for a little while with Firefox on it - I’ll see if I can find the equivalent.

Kevin’s search suggestion is the trick. In my case, an imac on an OSX server at work, it shows the same five days worth of backups (bookmarks-2008-01-07.html is the latest) and here’s where I found mine located: home folder >library > application support > firefox>osp921wy.default> bookmarkbackups > bookmarks-2008-01-07.html.

Enjoy your new machine.

Thanks for the path – Application support? This is the first time I’ve had to dredge anything up from there. For some reason, just searching for “bookmarks” didn’t work. No idea why not; it’s working now on my G5 at work.

Thanks everyone!

Now you just need to replace that with a real computer.

Many treasures hidden in Application Support - an important folder to back up if you are upgrading or transferring.

Bloo, that’s an operating system (when was I that optimistic?) not the computer.
