Firefox 3!

I just updated to the Firefox 3 browser, and yowser, is it fast!!!

Plus, I think it’s highly rated for pc’s as the safest browser.

(I am not a geek oracle, just garnered various opinions from others.)

I’m using it on my laptop and am happy with it. My only complaint is that my two most used plugins (gesture support and bookmark sync) aren’t supported yet.

I haven’t tried it yet, but many of my old engineering coworkers have been
talking about it. One thing that sounds nice is that it waits for a successful
login attempt before asking to remember passwords. In Firefox 2, if you are
logging into a site, and you put in the wrong password, it will ask if you want
to remember it before you even know if you typed it correctly. Then it ends
up remembering a bunch of incorrect passwords. Oy.

I installed it last night. Happy so far, but /. reported a vulnerability that was discovered 5 hours after FF3 was put up…

I’m running it–so far so good.

Seems faster on Vista 64 than IE does.

Same for AdBlock, which is a bit annoying, I am used to getting pages without adds.

I think the most recent version should work.

It appears that Adblock Plus did indeed transfer over when I upgraded this morning.

No ads here, either. One of the nicest features of FF.

I can’t log in to one site I regularly use, because Firefox doesn’t like the security certificate, and won’t let me override its decision, regardless of my security settings. I have reported it. Had to use IE again. Otherwise, pretty happy. PicLens and Adblock Plus have been updated to work.

Thanks, I don’t know why I missed AdBlock plus, it surprised me it wasn’t updated to the new version.

what happens to Firefox 2 when you download the new 3? does it over write it, or do you have to uninstall the old one?

As best as I can tell, it completely overwrites it. All of my bookmarks and (compatible) apps transferred over just fine.

It’s just an upgrade, isn’t it?

kinda, uh huh

when the 1st number changes it signifies a big update

Aargh! Just lost my Get Mail icon…why have they taken away an icon to take you to your pop3 email? I don’t like having to click a desktop or toolbar icon - simply because I’m accustomed to an icon on my browser.

Other than that, it seems fine so far.

How do you go back multiple pages?

Oops, Figured it out. It is more of a timwe line than a back or forwards.

Anybody else having trouble with the Yahoo toolbar? It won’t show my buttons, no matter how I refresh the thing. I like Firefox, but it’s a hassle not being able to use my bookmarks, to say the least.

Why can’t you use your bookmarks? I moved over to Firefox quite some time ago, so going from 1 to 2 to 3 was just a type of upgrade…but when I originally moved over there was an option to migrate your bookmarks over from IE.

BTW - I found Get Mail - I’d forgotten it hasn’t been on the Firefox site as an add on since 2.0… http://webdesigns.ms11.net/getmail.html

Anyway, I know nothing about the designers of Get Mail, but I’ve used it through 2 and now into 3 and never had a problem.

Why can’t you use your bookmarks?

They’re all on Yahoo and accessed through the toolbar. Hasn’t been a problem till now.

Edit: I solved my own problem. Del.icio.us already has an add-on that will work with FF3, and it’s an all-around better system for managing bookmarks than Yahoo’s.
