Just discovered and downloaded Mozilla. I was inspired to do this by my Aunt Mozilla. But that’s another story.
I may never go back to IE. I may never go back to Outlook. It’s a mean, clean Internet machine.

Dale, you may want to check out firefox, it’s a slimmed down version of Mozilla you can download from the same page.
It runs a bit faster I think.

I saw that. I’ll try it. I REALLY like the mail manager part of Mozilla. It may solve some of my subscription headaches.

Comes as part of the bundle with many Linux distros…and for good reason.
Sadly though, too many big businesses buy in to the M$ IE nonsense, and unwittingly make their websites ‘unfriendly’ to non-IE browsers. If you do stuff like Internet banking, you may want to try it first before binning IE completely, just in case.
I have been using mozilla for web and mail for some time and love it. But now I will have to reinstall as I can only read emails by pressing the forward or the reply button. I have to look for attachments in windows/temp too.
Now how do I preserve my accounts and folders since reinstalling involves deleting the old version. So not so happy ![]()

I use Mozilla Firebird. It’s spiffy, ain’t it? I love the pop-up blocker.
Hehehe, it used to be called Netscape. ![]()
Seriously, Opera is even better (as a browser; i haven’t tried their email client).

Finally. Unix/Linix people on the web.
Back when I was a boy we used to have to browse on Mozilla uphill in the snow to school and back.
Being a diehard Slackware Linux user ive always used Mozilla. And like i told ya dale.. its really hard to beat the spam blocking features of mozilla mail, and the built in pop-up blocker in mozilla. In reguards to certain websites not rendering properly in Mozilla: if they are written properly and conform to WC3 specs and html 4.0, they render fine, if they are written to conform to the quirks of Internet Exploder well… people should adhere to the proper web standards. Best of all its completely free, open source and community developed. I invite anyone and everyone to try the suite, you will love the security, theming ability and tabbed browsing features. BTW..mozilla firebird is now known as mozilla-Firefox, and it is also great, it does need a stand alone mail client though, so for some configuring that can be tricky.
Netscape 7.1 = Mozilla 1.6 + some bundled kr@p.
Definitely stay with Mozilla if you want a free browser and email client. I agree, the spam filtering is very good (a Bayesian filter that you “train”, but it learns fast). I’ve had problems wtih both Mozilla and Netscape inexplicably losing their configuration under Windows XP, so you may want to keep a backup of your prefs.js file handy after you configure it the way you want.
IMHO Opera is still a better browser (but Mozilla now comes awfully close).
Stay away from IE if you can. Keep it around for those “special” sites that won’t work with other browsers, but it has serious security flaws that can bite you without you even being able to do anything about them.

I can’t see the name Mozilla without thinking of Magilla Gorilla, though.
Like Glaub, I avoid IE whenever possible. I have been using bundled Safari with OSX but still many sites don’t completely work. I need an advanced degree in programming app helpers, I swear…
It will be a long time yet before sites are harmonized for universal browser to all of our distress.
Bill is just so damn annoying and omnipresent.
Have been using Apple’s Mail and so far, it seems pretty good except once you have deleted something, it’s gone (no empyting the trash). I was using a very decrepit Netscrape because the folders were nice.
Mozilla Firefox is superb. I use it exclusively. I was amazed to see how much more quickly than IE it opens pages. It also has fantastic plug-ins… no more ads!
Yea, I can’t stand to use IE anymore. Everytime I use it for any appreciable amount of time, when I run ad-aware it turns up soooo much more crap. IE is garbage, really. I don’t know why people still insist on using it as a standard.
Well, Washington tried it. Despite international concerns, count me as a EU fan for the time being. See below:

agreed dale i used mozilla firebird and its awesome
Now I’ve downloaded Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird and am using those instead of the Mozilla suite. Thunderbird, the free standing email client, is terrific. It’s missing a couple of features I like, but they’ll come around.
Dale
Proving once again, that this Forum is a great info source on general topics.. I have one next but will post new topic query.
Thunderbird isn’t quite complete, but it gets better and better every release. I wish there was better sync support for their addressbook. I’ve got my palm pilot, cell phone, Windows computer at work and Linux computer at home, it sure would be nice to keep my address book, calendar and todo list sync’d everywhere. I can find solutions that sync between two or three of the above but not all of them.
I guess I’ll just have to write it myself…in my copius free time
Be sure to read up on and enable the Bayesian spam filter. It works pretty darn well once you train it. I still review the junk folder just to make sure it doesn’t catch any real mail.
