FS: Talking exclusive? A+Bb Abell pink ivory set

Abell, Pink ivorywood + sterling silver, as new of course…

Lovely, beautiful, easier up 2nd an in 3rd octave than anything else I’ve tried…
I just can’t get used to the metal (sterling silver) tip and “skinny” body.
I guess I’ll stick to my French fat-bodied Le Coant’s, even if they don’t come in pink ivory and do look more like recorders…

Serial #1021
$ 500 for the set
(+ postage at cost)

Drool. Pics?

Ooooooh, and there’s me looking for Bb…doh! Can’t afford it! :frowning:

Nick, when I bought my Abell blackwood A/Bb set, I couldn’t afford it either.

You can see pics of this kind of whistle here, on which I posted pics of high D and F Abells in pink ivory.

Stuart

Same thing just scaled up a bit. Same deep red, too, which makes you wonder why it’s called “pink” ivorywood.

OMG, those are gorgeous! I’m taking inventory to see what I have for trade Zub…

Philo

The pink ivory part of my Busman looks pinker. Well, it looks pink actually. :stuck_out_tongue:

Damn you Stuart, I want both of those!!! (this coming from a man who rarely lusts after any whistle these days) I can’t believe you got the F too!

Loren

P.S. Of course I want Zuby’s A/Bb set too, alas I have not the means :frowning:

Good luck with the sale dude, sorry I can’t take 'em off your hands.

Loren

As you might guess after a few hours of this thread–the whistleset is spoken for… a few times.

Pink ivorywood looks, and sounds, gorgeous. I’ll miss this set, but leaving it unplayed would be a real shame: I’m NOT a collector of the display-case kind. I’m glad I sell it to someone on this board, not Anon425 on eBay… It remains in the family.
All your kind replies confirm the feeling–way to go.

I just wish I could lure Le Coant in lathing this red stuff. Wow! a black and red Bb, a bit like Wombat’s Busman D, would be a killer around a fest-noz!
