FS: Sweet 6-key blackwood

I am planning to sell my Sweet 6-key. It is a Firth-Pond style flute, in African Blackwood with silver rings and keys. It has a lined head with a tuning slide.

I have posted sme photos on my Flickr site at:

I bought this flute off a member of this forum about a year ago. I paid USD 1,000, which was a bargain, considering the new price is USD 2,295. You can see the official details on Sweet’s website here:

In deference to this forum and the good people on it, I am prepared to offer it here at the price I paid, plus shipping. If no one wants it, it will go on ebay and (hopefully) fetch a higher price.

The flute has been well-cared for, and plays well. All the keys seal properly and operate smoothly.

Why am I selling? Well, I also have a Burns Folk Flute. I have been playing it in sessions more often because (a) it’s louder, and (b) I can get a harder low D. Now been playing for about 18 months, and my embouchure is starting to settle to the point where I am progressively getting worse on the Sweet and better on the Burns (it was the other way round when I started). I have to choose one or the other, and I think the Burns style suits me better. The proceeds of this sale will go towards a down payment on a new Burns keyed standard flute.

The Sweet is a beautiful piece of craftmanship, and plays easily in the upper octave. If you need a keyed flute and are on a budget, this is a great opportunity. Please PM me if you are interested.

Ok, about to go to eBay if no one is interested …

I’ll give you a bump 'cause this is a really good deal for someone who wants to get into keys. Sweets may not be Olwells, but they’re decent, honest flutes that will give you room to grow.

Thanks Kate.
