I got this flute about 1 1/2 years ago new. It plays easily with a strong low end. The intonation is very good, and plays in tune with the headjoint all the way in. The padouk wood is a very pretty rich brown color. These flutes are make from a single piece of wood, so the head and body are perfectly matched in grain.
I will try to add some pictures of these in the next few days. Please send me a PM if interested. If there’s no interest here with a week or so, I will put these on eBay.
It’s a Pro Tec case for a Boehm flute that I modified the inside compartment to fit the Sweet. Basically, I took the lower part of case apart, separated the cloth liner from the hard foam, removed enough foam so the Sweet would fit, and then re-assembed it.
Terry, I got a Casey Burns standard flute in mopane. After my wrist injury, I wanted a more ergonomic flute, and the Burns finger hole layout is easier to hold.
I really like the Burns mopane!! It has a strong tone with a beefy low D. The tone also seems very rich to me, and I can vary it quite a bit depending on embouchure. The ergonomic hole layout is very comfortable, and I can easily use the normal (Rockstro) LH hold. I think I’ve found a flute I can be monogamous with! The only real problem is only being able to play it for a hour a day during the break-in period.
