Though a part of me cannot believe I’m doing this, I’m selling my all-but-brand-new Seth Gallagher half set of uilleann pipes for several reasons, none of which have anything to do with the perfect set itself.
Ebony, silver, nickel-silver, and mammoth ivory.
Trumpet-style bass drone end.
Extra A drone with pop-gun style plug pin (also in Mammoth).
Four chanter keys.
Chanter shut-off key.
Black velvet bag cover.
Reeds in new condition; all sound super - all four drones on is an awesome sound.
Bellows by Jim Schaefer in padauk with African Blackwood “thistle shaped” air intake valve with silver Celtic knot “grate” inlaid; metalwork on the bellows in nickel silver; black leather - generously padded on both sides; convenient hook mechanism eliminates need to constantly buckle and unbuckle.
Custom Cedar Creek case - “graphite futura” exterior; black velvet interior; accessory compartment; built-in thermometer/hygrometer; nickel hardware with combination lock; shroud; two handles (one on the long end, one on the short).
The set cost $4,800.00 - a price set two and a half years ago.
The bellows cost $300.00.
The case cost $300.00.
$5,400.00 total.
Absolutely pristine and in perfect working condition - all of it.
I would like $5,000.00.
I am in no rush for the money.
I will take a deposit of 10% to demonstrate seriousness and wait for up to 6 months or so. Seth’s wait is now estimated at 18 - 20 months.
I will consider accepting the odd instrument as partial payment (especially a wooden low D whistle or a particularly good/interesting high whistle) or even as the downpayment but I’m seeking by far most of this in cash.
I have added photos of this to my web page.
