I’d like to sell my John Gallagher Rudall style blackwood flute. The flute has a lined headjoint, silver rings, 4 keys (G#, right hand Bb lever, short F, and D#. It also has a thumb hole for C natural (in a very comfortable position). This small-holed flute has a surprisingly big, focused sound, snappy articulation, and is unusually comfortable to the hands. The flute is in like new condition, with some of the best blackwood I’ve ever seen. It comes in a hard case. I need to sell it due to economic reasons.
I believe John’s waiting list is at least a year. I paid $2300 for the flute, and I’d like to get $1975 (shipping included).
Also for sale is a Peter Noy blackwood Boehm flute headjoint, with mother-of-pearl inset. It currently fits an .014 bore Boehm flute, and may be slightly loose on a Yamaha flute, but can be easily re-sized. It has a great woody sound, with an oval embouchure hole. It’s less “Boehm-like” than many wood headjoints I’ve tried. It was hand-picked at Peter’s shop, and is in like-new condition. I believe I paid $1250 for it. (The prices on his website haven’t been updated in years). I’d like to get $885 for it (shipping included).
Hey Dana, sorry to hear that you need to part with some very nice stuff here-really good deals on the flute and the headjoint!
For someone wanting a top notch flute with an easy finger stretch, and having some nice keys too (besides the C nat thumb hole), this one would be great, no doubt! Johnny Gallagher’s flutes aren’t easy to find if you would like one-and why wouldn’t you? In essence, you’re getting a 5 key with the thumb hole.
A really nice Rudall like this will surely be appreciated by whomever is lucky enough to buy it. I’m key-jealous of yours–you have one more than me, and I like your keys better!
I’d love to try that headjoint too on my Boehm-seems another great buy for someone who is bored with their silver flute, or just wants a wooden tone for their music when they play it on the Boehm. It would add a lot of dimension that you just can’t get without the wood.
Good luck with the sales, and to better times ahead!
