I just consigned a Gallagher full set in D.

Count this as my CP for the month.

Always up for a trade as part of the final price.

Doc

Bumped to note addition of the D full set.

Thanks,

Doc

bumped 'cause Gallagher sets really rock…

Dave

Doc, are you dropping out of the Uilleann Piping scene?

No, not yet. I’m just waiting for my dream set to come along which will probably be a C set or a narrow-bore D. I had a lovely Preshaw C set early on when I was too dumb to know what I wanted and a narrow bore Angus chanter that I sold to a fellow that really wanted it. My problem is that I always have the attitude that I can get another one so I’m over-inclined to be a nice guy and help people out by selling stuff I quite like.

B and lower are more than I want to manage stretch-wise and the D sets I’ve played are just too loud for me. So I’m guessing narrow-bore D or C. Alternatively I may get a regular D set and just have somebody make me a quieter reed.

In the meantime I’m playing Northumbrian smallpipes which are delightful little rasclas and a lot less work to play.

I’ll agree though that there’s nothing like a UP. Truly the king of pipes.

Doc

I think you’ll find that the stretch of fingers for a C stick isn’t that much less than it is for a B. The span of the fingers (… in addition to all of the other nuances that make up the charming charateristics of flat chanters), is part of the deal when learning how to play them. For me, they are also part of the allure.

Happy hunting!

Joseph makes quiet reeds, and loud ones too those loud bastards. Hush you be quiet.. :swear:

I just got back from the post office with a Lynch 1/2 set just gussied up by Kirk (I like going to the Post office  ).

Oh Mercy! Forget everything I said about D sets. This is exactly what I was looking for. Even my wife likes them!

Nuts, I was going to gussy 'em up and re-sell ‘em. Oh well. Guess I’ll just have to re-sell somethin’ else.

Doc

Bump.

Patrick old son did you get a c chanter and did you sell your full set?
Cheers
Ged

Hi Ged,

I got a D Lynch 1/2 set and am happy as a clam. It’s just what I was after.

The Gallagher set isn’t mine. It’s on consignment for a friend and is still available. Someone should buy it.

Patrick

Bump

It’s still available.

Bump.

OK here’s your chance guys. Tell your wife you really need a full set for Christmas.

Doc

Have you thought about listing this set on Patrick D’Arcy’s site? If it is already listed, disregard this post. If not listed, perhaps you ought to give some thought to it. Perpetually bumping this item does not seem to be working for you.

Thanks for the bump Joseph.

See everybody, Joseph thinks it’s high time somebody coughed up the dough and bought this lovely set of pipes. What’s six or seven grand compared to the greater good of the forum?

Doc

No problem, erm, that’ll be $50 please…
