Heh. When I saw the thread title and noticed who had posted it, I assumed this would be an English rant about the French. The picture is much better. ![]()
“OK, Freddy, tell us what you see. Any flies over that way?”
Best wishes,
Jerry
Did someone say fly?
That’s an interesting picture of a red X Gary. Not too froglike though.
Anybody see the classic movie, Frogs? One of the dumbest so-called horror movies ever made. Ray Miland.
Speaking of frogs, I know a great visual shaggy dog story about a wide-mouthed frog.
Loses something in the translation, so I’ll keep it to myself.
My husband has that movie for sale at his store - guess I should take it home and watch it!
You couldn’t see the frogs? I’ve copied the image to my server and changed the link… odd how you couldn’t see it when the others did. Perhaps a Flydood defence mechanism?!
I see it now and am amazed. How cool.
Charlene, I recommend it. I hope you get the laughs my daughters and I did. Especially the scene with the big jars of liquid marked “Poison”.
I know we all have those lying around.
I love frogs… what a cute picture!
but see, you didn’t keep it to yourself. So now we’re going to be going around today, wondering what the rest of story is. It’s going to be maddening…I may have to get snarky and everything over it.
So do I. I kissed one and it turned into a wife
.

“This is the only way that I know to keep her quiet. I am simply tired of all of the croaking!”
Do female frogs croak?
I am not an expert on amphibians, but my guess is that female frogs probably do not croak. So I need to revise my caption to the photo. How about, “This is the only way I know to keep him quiet. All of that croaking is being to get to me”. By the way, the photo is from a World Wildlife Fund calendar and depicts two red-eyed tree frogs in Costa Rica.
Some years ago, I spent several months in India, which goes from very dry to very wet depending on the season.
After the beginning of the rainy season, I remember walking along a path by some open land where I could hear a terrific, resonant, bass croaking coming from nearby. Really impressive performance. I looked towards the source and saw the biggest bullfrog I’d ever seen, exactly the middle of a large puddle, maybe 20 feet across.
India is a place where many of the natives can speak several languages, including English. I could clearly hear the bullfrog calling, in English, “C’mon, girls. I’ve got a terrific place here. Come on over and I’ll show you a great time. C’mon girls … .”
Best wishes,
Jerry
“Hush, you silver-tongued tempter”, more like.
