Foul mouthed a55hole dissing Ireland! Unbelievable ..read on

http://www.thesession.org/discussions/display.php/4547

No matter how I read it, the same message comes out. Irish are …insert insults…

Not in nearly 60 years have I ever heard an Irish musician, Trad or otherwise, shoot such heap of sh!t about messers…

I pray I never run into such a gobshite in an Irish house!

If he doesn’t like us why cant he fk off and stay there? Why can’t he take his stupid ignorant schrawbing fuddle to some other kind of music and leave us the f*k be.

And him not much of a fiddler anyway.

Are we looking at the same thing? When I go to the link you mention, I see people talking about poor session behavior in Ireland, but they’re not talking as though they think all Irish musicians behave poorly at sessions, and I certainly wouldn’t say they’re “dissing Ireland” (anymore than a person complaining about poor behavior at a session in Chicago would be “dissing America”). Did you mean to link to something else?

Redwolf

Same here, Redwolf. I don’t see the problem.

Aye, Devil the bit, it was a strange thread though so God bless you for the defensive attitude.

Toasty, I find the tone of your message and you language to be more offensive than that thread. Would appreciate if you would take a deep breath and clean it up.

Bad form. :imp:

Wouldn’t be the first time we see a response to a (perceived) flame that ir considerably more offensive than the original flame.

I imagine he’s called “Toasty” because he likes to be flamed?

“Dissing Ireland”?? Toasty’s comments make no sense…

and why do you post your comment here? post it on “the session” instead.

OK Toasty, join in the chorus.
“I’m a troll, fol-de-rol,
And I’ll flame you for supper”

Elvis impresonators are as welcome as Coleman impersonators and besides this dude isn’t much of a fiddler anyways.

My language? what language?

I love it!

I hope you are kidding…

Asterisks and substitutions are “cute” ways of trying to disguise language that is less acceptable to others and typically forbidden by most forums. The act of substituting to accomplish said disguise indicates a knowledge of this fact.

If you are going to swear and curse, don’t substitue, just do it. Or, a better solution would be to engage your brain before applying your fingers to the keyboard.

And he was only telling the fecker to feck off.

Mrs Doyle: Oh she writes such filth, Father. It’s always “Feck this” and “Feck that” - and sometimes she even uses the “F” word!

I have to know. What’s a “schrawbing fuddle”?

My boss is Irish and I’m wondering if it’s a safe phrase to use next time I’m stuck in the Slough of Despond (team meeting).

“Ah go on go on”

Toasty must be on drugs… but that “thesession.org” thread was very interesting to read. It’s true that there’s bad behaviour in sessions everywhere on the planet, but in Ireland there’s more sessions so you ought to come across bad ones more often.

I remember a few years ago in Clare there was this very obnoxious irishman concertina player who would start all the tunes, and would leave other sessioners kinda angry every time. He was all around the county so it was only a matter of time until you ran across him. I’m sure he’s still there, somewhere, waiting for me and Moxy to show up there in november

Mrs Doyle: And what would you say to a nice cup of tea, Father?

‘Feck off, cup’

Hey Az, that sounds very familiar. But are you sure it was in Clare? Sure it was an Irishman? Sure it was a concertina player?

BTW toasty your dude is a dude-ess. As it happens I was playing tunes with her last night. She’s OK, she’s young, has strong opinions, likes to stir the shite, and posts on internet forums late at night. Take her with a big pinch of salt. Excessive self-confidence and iconoclasm in the young may be annoying to old farts like you and me but it’s a free country. Well, where we are it is.

In that thread which got you so riled up I’d say she is only stirring the shite in response to another poster on that forum whom she, rightly or wrongly, perceives as having a somewhat precious attitude towards session behaviour and keeps quoting the way people behave in Ireland as a model - so she’s trying to add a bit of balance. You might find it crass but unless you’ve been participating in the ongoing discussion it’s really nothing to do with you.

Anyway as someone else remarked, you should take the matter up on thesession.org. Be careful, though, you might be in for a shredding…
