Forum Technical Question

Is there a way for phpBB to show me what pages of a thread are new or updated since my last visit?

The only way I have been able to do that is to watch/subscribe to the thread.

phpBB is..?

Whenever I log on I can see which threads have new posts immediately, the symbol on the left is different. Is that what you mean, Walden?

Well… you’re on the right track. I was wondering if there was a way for me to come on, and, when there’s a relatively busy thread, see which pages of that thread are new since I last visited. For example, if I see there are ten pages of a thread entitled “Sweetones Versus Carpet Cleaning,” it would be nice to know on which page the new posts, since my last visit, begin.

I must have missed that thread…how far back is it Walden?

If you got to the index page http://chiffboard.mati.ca/index.php

You’ll see a link at the top right that says “View Posts Since Last Visit” which’ll produce a list of all the new posts since your last vist… well, obviously…

Is that what you’re looking for?

Why don’t you just log on every ten minutes like the rest of us.

If you click on that little orange symbol that indicates "new posts’ it should take you straight to the first new post. Is that the kind of thing you’re wanting?

If you’re logged in, then the

icon should take you to the first post in the thread which you have not seen.

I think Walden is hoping for a feature that will tell him which “posts” of a particular thread he finished on. For instance, say the “jumpin gee willickers’ jig” thread is up to 4 pages, and say Walden has looked at 2 1/2 pages and the goes and does Origami, (which he does fabulously), or anything else there is to do in the part of OK that he lives, and then comes back a day later.

Is there a feature that when he signs on, it will show him that he left OFF after 2 1/2 pages, or, direct him to the very next post after the last one he saw?

I think that is what he wants and if not, sorry to butt in.

All the Best, Tom

I think this is what Rich and I both just said above
Click the little icon, you go to the next one..the one right after the last one he saw.

Thank you. This was indeed the feature I was looking for.

really? I had no idea that it worked that way.

Sorry, I guess I didn’t realize that’s what you were saying. I had no clue it worked that way, I just always looked through to find out where I last left off.
Thanks for clarification, and sorry for being so dense.
Any idea what I’m doing dumb?

Thanks, Tom
