I have put up a few sale posts today. No, I’m not preparing for a recession.I had a day off so I used it to catch up on a lot of things.
Item for sale is a full set of cocobolo concert D pipes by Alan Ginsberg. They were made around 1994-5.
The chanter has one key and is playing fine as are the drones with the original cane reeds. I also have a set of Ezeedrone uilleann reeds that I will throw into the bargain.
The regs need new reeds. One key on the baritone reg needs a new spring. Bass regulator cap was stolen in a bar and will need replacing. ( God knows why anyone would want to steal it.)
The price is $4000 US plus P&P or I may consider a swap for a B half set by a reputable maker - yes full for half - I am that crazy.

Fully insured shipping from Japan usually takes 3-4 days to reach the US. It takes a little longer to Europe.

I had a PM request asking if I would split up the set and sell the regs separately. I am considering the idea, but I have a question for the Chiff oracle.
I have never removed the bass regulator from these pipes. and I don’t want to do it unless I have a firm offer.
Is there a standard construction for the airway into the bass reg?
Is there a hole that can be corked, or would I need a similar plate to replace the bass reg plate?
Normally there would be a little hole in the stock that feeds the air into the separator on the bass. That should be easily filled with cork, plastic wood etc.
Once you have the screw holes filled you probably want to re-finish the stock.
It may be easier to sell separate, but I would rather keep the set together.
When I bought these, I didn’t like the look of imitation ivory mounts, so Alan Ginsberg made them all with the same wood as the rest of the pipes. It was still the same price as pipes with the plastic mounts.
The regs match the rest of the set and I don’t really want to split them.
I think the price is still quite cheap for a full set, even with the repairs, so I may just wait until somebody realises that, or put them on the capitalist hell that is ebay with all the Geoffreys and mouth-blown practise chanters.
