For Sale: Copley Blackwood D Flute

I had hoped not to sell this flute, and certainly at least not until after my Olwell arrived - so I could compare them side by side - however my whistle sales are not going well, so I’m offering the Copley for sale at this time.

This Copley Flute is Blackwood with a Brass tuning slide. The flute is in excellent condition, there are a couple of scuffs around the two holes on the foot joint, but these are only visible upon close inspection. The wood surrounding each tone hole has lightened a wee bit where the fingers fall. Otherwise, the flute looks new and it has been very well cared for.

It is my understanding that the waiting list for a new Copley is approximately 6 months long at present.

I am asking $750 + $15 shipping for this instrument, and I can honestly say: I like this flute better than any other flute I’ve played (Healy, Grinter, Hamilton, Lambe,Hoza, M&E, etc.) only the Olwell I tried a while back was better. This Copley is so easy to play and so great sounding…I am seriously bummed to have to sell it, this flute is just too good.

Please contact me via e-mail if interested.

Thanks,

Loren

Here’s something additional to consider:

Now that Dave Copley is offering Keyed flutes, this may be very well be the fastest way to get a top quality keyed woodenflute and have something wonderful to play while you wait: If someone were to purchase my Copley, and order the keyed section from Dave now, they would then have a great woodenflute keyless flute to play for the next six or seven months, and after that their keyed body would be ready to add to this flute.

Considering that the other top makers like McGee, Olwell, Grinter, and Wilkes all have waiting lists anywhere from 2-7 years, this could be a great opportunity for someone who wants a top shelf keyed flute quickly. Of course you could just order the entire keyed flute from Dave, but then you would have anything to play between now and the end of this year, beginning of next.

Just a thought that occured to me after the original post.

Incredible, Loren! So you’re going to my method of flute collecting after all…serial monogamy.

You can always look back on the memories, the photos, the kitchen recordings..and remember how much you loved her. On a cold night, you’ll wake, shudder slightly, a barely perceptible anxiety welling up in your stomach, your eyes. “that Copley…”
You’ll pull out your Olwell, a chip or two now in the cocus: A lovely flute. But still…

Oh yeah, that makes me feel much better Greg, thanks buddy…

Loren

BTW, I forgot to mention: I can accept payment via Credit Card (through PayPal) if that helps anyone

Thanks,

Loren

Loren, I’ll make you a deal. You send me your Copley, I’ll send you my Hammy, when we miss them terribly, we’ll swap back…

You know, if I didn’t need the money so badly that would be great fun.

I imagine we’re both gonna miss these particular flutes once they’re gone…

Loren

hey eskins

Ill swap my seery for your hammy and some change for a little while. I figure its worth a try

The Copley is sold; To someone who has been kind enough to let me hang onto it until after my Olwell arrives, very cool!

Thanks everyone,

Loren
