Flutes for sale

I’m offering two flutes for sale. Both are old anonymous german cocuswood flutes with cases. Both have small holes and fairly “easy” finger spacing.

  1. 1-key baroque style, refurbished by Daniel Deitch. Has a really warm and sweet tone with a surprising amount of power and the tuning is quite good if you are used to this kind of flute, however I don’t think it is particularly suitable for irish music. $400

  2. 8-key with lyra makers mark. I thought it was a Huller but I am probably wrong. Has repaired cracks and nicely functioning keys. Has the original nickel headjoint, which is not bad, and two Jon C headjoints. One is lined with an elliptical embouchure and the other is unlined with a rounded rectangle. All of them work well. Has a sweet tone but has some bite to it. It is very easy to play, and with well-developed embouchure (very tight & blow gently) the power and intonation are very good. It is not perfect but I would say that it is easier to play in tune for a beginner/intermediate player than a traditionally tuned Rudall would be. $500… A fully-keyed flute for the cost of a mid-priced keyless.

I’m sad to see them go, but I haven’t really played them since I got my pratten from Jon C and I think it’s time to replace my $20 fiddle bow with something that I will be happy to use long-term.

I’ll offer a trial period & return policy (less shipping) if the buyer’s not satisfied. Email or PM if interested.

I’m curious to see if anyone knows whose mark the lyre is. I bought a flute off ebay that had a head from a reputable maker, but the body was blackwood with the lyre mark. The seller took it back.

I think they were commonly used by german makers, whether or not they put their name on it.
