Anon vintage German Blackwood 8 keyed flute. Five piece rather than the usual four. Other unusual features include nickel embouchure plate and nickel finger hole bushings. Much improved since I purchased the flute six months ago - rewrapped polyester thread tenons, new Lucien pads, repaired cosmetic crack in the barrel. Thanks to all on the board who gave me advice about the restoration!
Tuning is good - plays A=440 with slide pull out a quarter inch, usual flat D. I haven’t been able to play low C or C#. Tone is good, on the sweet side, but capable of some burr with the right control. Embouchure is a small oval so the flute is not loud enough to stand out in a noisy session. Volume acceptable otherwise. This was my main flute until I got a new Copley and finished restoring a William Hall. Original wooden case is past it best. Could be retored with a new leather covering. $375 (or best offer) includes shipping and insurance in US. Photos and sound clip available on request, just drop me an email. I’ll take the flute back (minus shipping) if the buyer doesn’t like it. Please reply off board.
Thanks, Keith
