I have just completed my first tenor regulator. Taylor style, blackwood, nickel silver and faux pachyderm. The baritone reg behind it is bored out ready for shaping and toneholing. The reed will follow Taylor dimensions; i.e. very small/narrow head. Many thanks to Chris Bayley for help, advice and supervision.

Yes, I just tried a standard regulator reeds in it, and it works fine. I will be making a Taylor style reed so that it will be in keeping with the rest of it. Back to the workshop…

Congratulations Mike!!! Have you bored them with flatstock or D reamers? Are they difficult to make (the reamers) as the chanter´s does?

Looks realy good. Nice to see you have not taken the easy folded folded key option and done a proper job. Would I be right in thinking that the key retaining tabs are dovetailed into the regulator bodies and riveted in the Taylor manner ?

The retaining plates are let into matching dovetails, and nickel silver rivets are swaged into countersunk holes in each one. The pivot pins run through brass tubes that are soldered onto the underside of the key.

It is the same reamer for the chanter and both tenor and baritone regulators, as the bores are identical, as far as I know. Chris Bayley designed and made the reamers, so maybe he might chime in on this one?
