Finbar McLoughlin 3/4 set; chanter by Robbie Hughes on ebay

It’s a shame the pictures are so awful. Is the solarization on purpose, I wonder. Will the seller provide a CITES certificate so it can be shipped overseas?

I assume this: Price STG£1,950.00 is ‘pounds sterling’? Any different from the GBP United Kingdom Pounds?

He means £,s ( UK Pounds) No difference

I’ll bet that the picture was taken with a camera phone. I’ve had that happen when people send me photos via the phone to my computer.

But then I could be wrong

Bad pic’s but chanter is probably worth buying them since I own a R.J.Hughes chanter and its great. I’m not sure about everything else..never heard of that maker.

Finbar’s instruments usually sound great, from what i hear.

I had a wee blast recently on a B 3/4 set by Finbar with a Rogge chanter…lovely tone off the drones

Just cos you haven’t heard of him…

Martin Preshaw learnt most of his stuff from Finbar - as the man said - “just cos you haven’t heard of him…”
and furthermore - worth buying for the Robbie Hughes chanter alone.

Finbar lives in Derry and has been making pipes for longer than some o ye have lived !! so less o the “never heard of him” stuff  come to think of it… I daresay he has never heard of any o yous.
I will be selling a half set of his in the New Year for a friend so if anyone wants to think about saving
Details later when I’ve had a good look at it.

A bit late in the day what? For adding to this post that is.
Then again, “better late than never”.
I can endorse the positive comments on Finbar. He’s been making pipes for a good many years. Good tone, rock solid construction “session” pipes and not bad at making C# full sets either (I have one of each).
As far as I’m aware Finbar won the All Ireland on a set of his own pipes back in the late 1970’s.
He’s also provided alot of folks in NI, the Republic, Scotland & England with good affordable sets such is his committment to the “tradition”. Oh aye, he’s also a first class gentleman and very helpfull.

Auction ended November 27, 2004.

I was once told by Peter Hunter that the best sound for reasonable money was from Finbar.

Has he got a website? I couldn’t find one.

Theres a set for sale on the NPU website with Finbar McLoughlin regulators. A steal for the price. Finbar is a great maker.
