Anyone (in Ireland) going to the ‘Piper’s Night’, at Glór, in Ennis on Thursday?
The line up (I’m reliably informed by Cillian O’Briain) includes Paddy Keenan and Finbar Fury!! “Unreal” (to quote my piping friend Jerry, who will, no doubt, be crying that all night long!)
I’m hoping that Finbar will pick up the Low whistle and show us how ‘The Lonesome Boatman’ should be played!

Hi Steve, sounds like a great night. I saw Finbar perform earlier this year, and his piping and whistling were fabulous! I sometimes think that his piping tends to overlooked- most English people probably remember the ‘slushy’ ballads-‘sweet sixteen’ et al,from the late 70s/early 80’s.His low whistle playing is really something-it had a really rich sound that ‘projected’-must be those Bernard OVERTONS that (i think) he plays, plus a whole lot of talent! PS: thanks for the whistles this morning(see my previous post).
Steve didn’t mention Mickey Dunne and Michael O Connell who are also in the concert.
At the same time any amount of nice piping can be had just up the road. Without the entrance fee.
