Favorite Breton whistle makers? (Lesouef, Le Coant, etc.)

Hi all,
My wife and I are travelling to France in a few weeks, and I’m thinking it would be fun to contact and visit a few Breton whistle makers while we’re there. Does anyone have any favorites? Lesouef, Le Coant, Hervieux & Glet, others?
Many thanks,
Kevin

P.S. Thanks to those who’ve recommended Breton flute makers!

There’s Jean-Pierre Le Meur - makes Overton type aluminium whistles - I met him/his whistles on his stall on the same trip to Lorient I mentioned in your flute thread. Nothing wrong with his craftsmanship, but I really wasn’t at all impressed with their playability/response - but then, I don’t like/can’t play Overton type whistles period - not Goldie, not Chieftain, not even MK, though those last are the best of the type (to my taste) I’ve yet tried. His prices are lower than those top brands, but I wouldn’t personally spend on them. but that’s me. If you’re having a tour of Breton instrument makers, you should check him out.

Thanks, Jem!

I’d love to hear how you get on - it’d be great to get some updates about any recent designs or revisions to their waiting lists.

Not so keen on waiting lists. If the demand is that great, I’d rather find someone who is lesser known, and yet to be discovered. The other problem is, by the time a 2 year waiting list comes around, what if I’m not around :boggle: or perhaps I might have changed instruments from a flute to a triangle

Jacky Proux is a very respected french whistle maker.
Get in touch with him (not exactly in Brittany, allways west but more in the south) here :

If you speak french, have a look on this thread :
