Has anyone played the Bb Elf Song copper whistle recently? I am thinking about buying a Bb this summer. I listened to some recordings on YouTube and on the Elf Song site, but I can’t tell for sure how good it is. I play the Blackbird C, D, and the Mellow Dog D so I feel Jerry’s work is first rate. Jerry also has a Bb Generation that really sounds good on YouTube. I am leaning towards the Freeman Bb, but the Elf Song has me intrigued. I wonder, though, whether blowing into a copper tube will kill my brain cells in stages.
Sorry, I can’t tell you anything about the Elf Song, but I can tell you that my Freeman Bb is my favorite whistle that I currently own, partly due to Jerry’s fine work, and partly because Bb is just a great size for a whistle.
Thank you, I am leaning towards the Freeman or a Tilbury. I’m just not sure about Elf Song’s copper mouthpiece. I imagine it would taste like a penny. (Like most people, I put a penny in my mouth as a kid. Good Grief.)
