Egghead Rufus wins best in show ...

Here’s the article.

Best wishes,
Jerry

That looks like George Patton’s dog.

now that’s a DOG! Not one of those “foo-foo” things!!!

you mean like this thing?

I was pretty blown away watching a Bull Terrier finally winning Westminster. Rufus is a great looking dog… but my Bully is best!

Rufus is the colored variety of Willie, Patton’s Bull Terrier.

Here is Willie with his master:

And let’s not forget the original party animal, Spuds Mackenzie…

Good-o. Terriers rule.

God loves a terrier
yes he does
God loves a terrier
that’s because
brown sturdy bright and true
they give their hearts to you
God didn’t miss a stitch
be it dog or be it bitch
when he made the Norwich merrier
with his cute little ‘derrier’
yes God loves a terrier

Rufus is a lovely dog, but I was pulling fo Coco in the terrier class. (No point cheering for my own breed - border terriers are apparently invisible in a group ring).

He resembles the African shoebilled stork:

I know the feeling. I’m always pulling for the Skye-heck, in years past, I owned the sire of a few of those Westminster winners. It is frustrating to see the more naturally groomed terriers passed over for the plucked and stripped perfect coats- regardless of what’s underneath. But, I’ve gotta admit, they are striking.

My dad had a great little border back in the late seventies. “Penny” was a fun little dog.

I was pulling for two dogs in the BIS ring- the Colored Bull because he really was looking perfect at all times, and just oozed “breed type” and the Scottish Deerhound because she is one of the best I’ve seen. When it comes down to that level of competition, little things like the terrier expression -alert, cute, - can often give them the edge over breeds that are more naturally laid back and less obviously expressive.

That article that was in the link sure showed a lack of knowledge by the writer. This person must not have had any idea that the Deerhound was a very strong contender for BIS. She was hardly even mentioned in the article.

Great dog there! But also , great bitch here! Wonderful movement.

That ones cute, and certainly “foo foo”, but could never top the true “foo foos”.

Here’s a top notch “foo foo” of the show ring-

I used to think that very thing about BTs. Didn’t a Border Terrier win BIS a couple of years back? Was it Crufts or Eukanuba?

yep - that’s EXACTLY what I mean. I know the “reason” for the cut (to keep the joints warm, etc.). But honestly, I think that poor dog is really thinking “if I was a pit bull, I’d make these people PAY for doing this to me…”

I’m surprised the dalmation did so well. I don’t remember them showing so high before. We had a dalmation once - beautiful dog, dumber then a box of rocks, and SHED!!! Good lord, that dog has been dead for 8 years, I’ve moved, and I STILL find white dog hair occasionally!!! Cruella Diville had NO idea what she was talking about.

I have a dalmation. I refuse to buy a Dyson vacuum unless I get to try one first. The TV commercials and reviews are pointless unless it passes the dalmation test.

I like all types of dogs, whether they be tall or short or fat or thin or stupid or more stupid.

oh - you’d LOVE Wyley and Buster then!!! We affectionately call them “dumb and dumber”.
