Caveat emptor.

The photo looks like it was lifted from Hobgoblin’s catalog.

I’m almost certain they’re Pakistani.

Save your money, folks. You’ll just have to wait to buy a decent set of pipes.

Better yet: why not learn to play irish music on a whistle or flute first?

It’s a Pakistani set. Run. Run away! You’d be better served spending $1000 on a $10 tin whistle.

I’m not planning to buy them, but just out of curiosity; if you had a decent chanter would the drones on these be all that bad?
I’ve been playing a set of Pakistani highland pipes for a couple of years (until I can turn a decent tenor stock for my J. Center pipes on my lathe) and the paki pipes have been fine. As I say, I’m not buying them but your thoughts on the subject would be interesting.

Well, the auction has ended and it took 25 bids to reach the reserve amount of $800US… we’re all thinking how much more $ will it take to make them playable?

Marc, to answer your question. It’s possible to get drones from another maker to work with an existing chanter, However you might not get satisfactory results. The drones could easily be too loud or have a tone that doesn’t sound pleasing with the chanter.

$800 for a nice wall hanging.
