I know this is off-topic, but yesterday I registered with Ebay and today I received the following email. When I clicked on the website mentioned, my Vshield told me that the site contained a trojan (don’t know what that is but it sounds bad). Anyone know anything about this? Is it genuine?

If I can recall correctly (BIG IF), ebay and paypal always use your account name in the salutation of messages. If you get a Dear Paypal, or Dear Ebay User, etc. its likely a hoax. Ebay wants you to forward these messages to spoof@ebay.com, and paypal to spoof@paypal.com. I don’t know how much follow-up they perform, but the frequency of such hoaxes to my email account have diminished. Your mileage may vary.
PJ, a trojan keylogger keep’s a diary of everything you type…credit card #'s, password’s, bank acct. transaction’s. Last summer my comp was infected by the sachost.exe trojan, and frequent “question for seller” emails are it’s symptom. Lil bugger uses auto-redirect email’s to take you to a site where it download’s more code into your comp…you don’t have to open an attachment. Just reporting them to Ebay spoof isn’t enough…check for & get rid of the trojan.
