Its Pakistani alright. Juat looka at the bellows…

Or compare the main stock:

With that of a known pakistani set: (from harp and dragon)

The pakistani sets (from this company, Mid East) usually always have a seperator tube on the mainstock.

Granted, the reg plugs are in different holes, and the seperator tube cap is different (or at least has a lighter wood decoration), but I’d say they’re both of the same species. The only Big thing different is the chanter top. Not the typical Pakistani design of the top feed, mainly wooden one.

This isn’t to say the set doesn’t play or sounds bad or anything against it or anyone; I have no clue. Maybe it was fixed up by a maker? Could explain the changes.

Beat me to it lordofthestrings

It looks to me like a set put together from parts, maybe over time. Possibly someone who knew what they were doing put it together. You might have a slightly better chance of getting a playable instrument here, but it is still a $500 plus gamble.

This is indeed a Pakistani set of pipes - 100% positive - so I would not recommend buying it. This is one of their Lynch-based items, identical to the old set of Mr. Joe of this site… bc of his reeding expertise, he got his to go pretty well, but a far cry from his new set.

Buying these things just encourages more supply of them… basic economics.

But just my 2 cents.

i asked the seller, and he told me he was sure they are pakistani.

That’s what I thought, too.. but if the seller is sure they’re Pakistani, they should put it in the auction info. Instead of “unknown” maker. Though I suppose you could argue you’ll never know the maker’s name.
