DVD about Willie Clancy Week

Sorry if this has been posted before; I did a search of the forums but didn’t see anything on it.

There’s a new documentary out called “Closing the Circle” that takes a look at the Willie Clancy Summer School (filmed in 2003, I believe). Includes interviews with Paddy Keenan, Sean McKeon, Noel Hill, Martin Hayes, Zoe Conway, and nice footage of sessions, concerts, and classes. A few snippets of singing too, including the great Scottish singer Ann Martin from Skye.

The production is a little amateurish (sound and video are not quite synched, at least not on my copy of the DVD, and the video is sometimes a little jumpy), but I found it enjoyable overall.

I bought my copy from Ossian USA (www.ossianusa.com), so it’s definitely available in the US and Canada.

They are hard to find, but there are videos available from CCÉ of each years’ Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann as it moves from city to city. It is an opportunity to get a picture of what its like at these big music scenes in Ireland if you don’t have an opportunity of going there yourself.
