Dublin (Ohio) Festival (CP)

The festival is next Friday to Sunday (August 6-8). We will be there with some flutes in the instrument vendors tent. Other vendors include Michael Burke (whistles), Mike Vignoles (uilleann pipes and bodhrans) and Jerry Gibson (highland pipes). The entertainment line-up is top-drawer with Lunasa, Solas, David Munnelly Band, Natalie McMaster and the Old Bay Ceili Band (including C&F regular Josh Dukes). Festival web site is http://www.dublinirishfestival.org/.

Dave,

Sorry I missed you on Thursday. I hope you survived the heat while carrying furniture in the hot sun. I’ll definitely be at the Irish Festival so I look forward to seeing you then.

Regards,

Kirk

Yes, talking flutes would have been a lot more fun than moving heavy things around. See you at the Festival!

Dave, I hope you’re taking that Solomon Blackwood (wasn’t that the wood?) prototype to Dublin. And to everyone who visits Dave at Dublin, I hope you get a turn on Dave’s Solomon Blackwood prototype. It’s a great one – light, lively and responsive with plenty of bang – an absolute joy to play.

Hey Dave, will be good to see you and your great flutes!!! Any chance you will have any C tooters???

Dave:

Make sure to bring a towel, 'cause I’m gonna slobber all over the blackwood F!!!

Pat

Cathy, I’ll have the Solomon (Pacific) blackwood demo flute there before it sets off on the next round of visits. Josh, I plan to take along a C body which fits a couple of the blackwood D flutes that will be there.

Sorry to go off topic, but does the session tent still exist at the Dublin Festival?

Yes - look at number 8 on this map: http://www.dublinirishfestival.org/info/map/

Thanks!

A little off-topic (only a little, though)… For you iPhone/iPodTouch users: there is a very cool app associated with the Dublin Irish Festival - you can download all the schedules and even download your personalized one.

Just got back from Dublin. I played Dave’s Solomon blackwood flute and it was fantastic. Very light and responsive. Dave, it was great meeting you and getting a chance to play some of your flutes.

I had a blast at the festival and even ran into some of my Pittsburgh session friends at the session tent. Then I wandered off and spotted these shady characters hanging about on stage (linking out so as not to put big photos in-line here on the forum):

Nice shades! Do they call themselves the 'Blues Brothers"?

The story as told my Mr. Crawford is that some of the lads partied a little hardy the night before.

Sláinte,

Kirk

And a good time was had by all. Thanks everyone who stopped by - it was great to meet some C&F folks for the first time and put faces to avatars. The Old Bay Ceili Band rocks!
