I recorded it yesterday on a new Hoover whistle which has very light breath requirements, so please excuse the errors. I think I am misremembering a few bars of the B part too, but the essence is there. Does anyone know its name?
For the longest time a friend and I were calling a jig “It’s In The Car”. 'Cause he asked what it was called, and I said, “Ehhh…it’s in the car.” And upon getting the “real” name shortly thereafter, “It’s In The Car” was still handy because, of course, knowing that a tune is called “Paddy Fahey’s” is of no help to anyone whatsoever. We still call it that, come to think of it.
I’m practicing being nefarious. How’m I doing so far?
A friend was showing a session video he’d made at the Plough and Stars in SF. Plugged his camcorder into the TV and hit Play. Just as I asked what tune they were playing, big green block letters appeared on the screen: “CHANGE THE BATTERY PACK”. Oh, sez I, how nice of you to provide captions.
Sticklers might argue that the tune is really “John Byrth’s”. But around here, ever since, everyone knows it as “Change the Battery Pack.”
It’s bad enough that your hideous avatar haunts my nightmares. Now it haunts my posts, like a ghostly cat demon, or something.
Great, thanks guys! Now to figure out which CD it was from. There are a few likely contenders on that Session list.
Az, you should come visit again now that I’m in Oregon! We may not have Friday Harbour but the Noel Hill concertina school is within driving distance; I’m going to it this year!
And the whistle is great, it’s a Hoover narrow bore which takes even less air than a laughing. Someone returned it to Mack, not liking it, and so it was on his “reject” pile when I visited. It’s no longer a reject
