I was upstair in my sewing room- yes another sewing frenzy has struck, but it’s a 1927 tea dress this time, so hopefully not as involved as the last-
came downstairs to go out for a smoke break and said " What! it’s already 10 o’clock? Then my husband told me he’d already turned forward the clocks downstairs.
I hate it. I’ll have to get up an hour earlier than I do for work, to get to church by 8. Then about 3 or 4 days to get use to the earlier times. It’s just longer to work in the evening before it gets dark, you quit and go in and it’s bedtime. Grrrrrrrr I wish they’d just leave it alone.
I like it. Ben Franklin thought of the concept. Franklin was one of the leading vote getters on the Polymath poll. Having Franklin as the idea man gives it a lot of merit (vs. having someone known as mindless and stupid (too many to list)).
It is supposed to save energy, so that is another positive. That said, the Monday after the spring forward is the most dangerous commuting day of the year. Be careful.
yes, i hate the new time change. i lose an hour of sleep. last year i didnt recover from it until it was almost the fall time change. i like it to be dark early also.
I HATE it. I’ve always hated it. It doesn’t really save energy, you still have to turn on lights, just in the morning instead of at night.
Everyone I’ve ever talked to thinks it’s stupid.
If some businesses want their employees to have more time to do things in the evening, they should change their business hours. Have the office open 7 to 4 instead of 8 to 5. If I had my own business, I would have 2 clocks set, one showing standard time and one showing daylight time, and I would always stick to standard time. Of course, that would confuse most people, but then I wouldn’t want to deal with people who are that easily confused.
I just wish the government would pick a time and then leave it alone. Changing twice a year is dumb.
And Ben Franklin suggested it as a joke, according to what I’ve read.
My almost 85-year-old mother-in-law called tonight, wondering if she had to change the time her alarm was set for also, or just change the time.
Getting up an hour earlier is no problem for him compared to all the time he’s spent the past couple of months (often working through the night) to deal with the problems of the time change happening a couple weeks early this year.
It’s an irritation changing the clocks. Our timeshift isn’t till 25th March. It was about five years ago the the politicians started messing about with it.
It meant our american computers went wrong twice - once when they made the timeshift on the wrong date, and once when they should have made the timeshift but didn’t. Some of our less sentient customers noticed nothing, because they never look at the time on their machines anyway.
But after the irritation changing the clocks (and a slight feeling of irritation about getting up in the dark again) it doesn’t bother me.
My wife, on the other hand, complains for weeks about it. And for weeks insists that it’s really an hour different from the time on the clocks.
I just wish it would stay whatever year round. I hate the actual change of stuff. The dogs don’t know it’s changed, so they are either up earlier or later (depending on the way it changes).
I’m just glad Indiana decided to go with the change, too. For years, whenever we went to Indiana we’d have to think..“Let’s see, is it the same as our time (EST) or an hour different (EDT)”. Drove ya nuts.
My phone and computer changed automatically, our “atomic clock” didn’t for some reason. And I’ll have to dig out the manual for the car, cuz it’s new enough I haven’t the foggiest idea how to change the clock in it.
Very annoying for me. I hate getting up when it’s still dark out. I was really liking the fact that I could get up before 6am (just a bit before), and be able to see the sun rise. Now it’s dark till almost 7am. Bleh
But, conversely, I DO like the fact that it’s lighter later. Well, I like it and I don’t. It’s nice to be able to do outdoorsy stuff later. But try telling the kids that they have to go to bed when it’s still light out. Now that is fun.
that’s a hoot. my wife has problems with computers so i told her years ago that if she changes all the other clocks in the house, i’ll figure out how to change the computer clock.
Looks like I will be changing my computer clock four times. Once today and once when it automatically up dates (nope changed that). When I update and try to synchronize with NIST I get an error, with windows standard time it changes it back to whatever the time was.
It annoys me greatly. I hope my guppies understand why they are getting fed at a different time.
