Do you Hate the time change?

Why is it that we’re the only ones (as far as I know anyway) that are changing so soon? Usually it’s the UK that goes before us. And now they’re 2 weeks away from theirs. What is the advantage to that?

It’s a sacrifice to Eris, Goddess of Confusion. We are blessed!

I beg to differ. If anyone should be the Goddess of Confusion, it should be me.

My computer clock changed for Daylight Saving Time all on its own. I was mildly confounded by that.

As for the more sleep/less sleep, thing, I slept badly and little last night, so the reckoning shift is a non-issue today.

Caroluna, minor goddess of Earnest Cluelessness, reverently bows in Izz’s
general direction  I have just the one kid, and feel such awe for
folks who have more than one :boggle: or maybe it’s pity

I agree the time change is confusing and pointless, but emotionally I
like it. Makes me feel like spring is just around the corner. Brings back
memories of my dad getting our bicycles out of the basement, oiling the
chains and adjusting the brakes. Now that I’m thinking of it, I’ll have to
mention that to him. “Dad, did I ever tell you…”

Although I perhaps appreciated it a bit when still a schoolchild, I find it a really silly thing. “Just adjust your store hours and deal with it!” is my motto… alas, no one is listening.

I do highly resent that I am up this moring short an extra hour on top of the others lost to dreadful happenings in the bulb of ‘real life’ I’m chewing my way through at the moment. Funerals, and the reasons for them, most often suck.

i like THIS time change! more sunlight which means more time being able to go out during the summer…ESPECIALLY going to the beach! i really cant wait to go to the shore in a few months…

and you’re not exactly losing sleep anyway…if you just adjust the clock the night before then you’ll still be getting the same amount
BTW!!! why the heck do they have the time change at 2AM??? who the heck is up at 2AM waiting to change clocks…

Me too. I like having the extra daylight in the evening. I don’t care if it’s dark when I get up and go to work (I work in a building with no windows), and I really like that extra hour of light when I’m up in the mountains on an after-work hike.

I didn’t realize you lived in Australia! Cool.

For some reason, the VCR didn’t automatically change the way it usually does. I even turned on the public tv station, which is supposed to send out some signal. No dice. Guess I’ll have to wait to the originally scheduled time before it changes.

Otherwise, I don’t mind the Spring one, but hate the fall one because it’s too dark when I get home. To me the Spring one just doesn’t do much because we have plenty of daylight anyway by now.

The story I heard was that Bush agreed to decide it and Congress agreed the country could do it. It’s original intention was to stimulate job growth. An extra few weeks of more hours in a day to work perhaps?
It sure stimulated the work load in IT but aside from the consultants, are most of them on salary anyway?

Anyway, it was decided to be done ahead of time back in Nov. and the guys in IT have been scrambling to get it accomodated. It was like their own mini Y2K.
While we might not think having the wrong time for a few weeks on a computer a big thing for our home computers, think of it.
Payroll, security, a lot of things in industry are exact time dependent.

I’m not trying to marginalize everyone’s struggle to start their day an hour earlier
but the time change (that has happened earlier this year than normal) is going to make my Thursday night 8 PM music class a lot more humane for me.

Its been a real a pain in the butt for me to stay awake and paying attention in class all the way to 10 PM.
At 9 PM my brain turned into mush and my fingers turn into noodles.
Now I’ll be walking out the door at that time.

With the extra hour at the end of my day I just might turn into a party animal.
Ok, maybe not.

Stimulate job growth! Pardon me if I look sceptical. It is so the Stock Markets can open at times closer to other significant International Stock Markets. And promote financial growth.

Capitalism at it’s very best…now we are to change the time to suit the needs of the money makers of the world.

Oops…was that political? :smiling_imp:

i also hate it because i have minor insomnia, so it is going to feel like an hour early in bed, like and 12 it feels only like 11, and when i wake up at 6 it will feel like 5. ahhhh i hate it!!! :swear:  :imp: :moreevil:  :waah: :tantrum:

or rhetorical?
:smiling_imp:

Shhh! Denny, you’re not supposed to give away all of my secrets!

Awk!!! the real reason ya haunt the boards…

tis the only place ya can keep one, innit?

You can keep one in Chiffy Chat.

Usually I like daylight saving time. But I didn’t like the change to DST.

We’ve all (in IT) been jumping through alternating flaming hoops off and on since the beginning of the year.
