Hi Folks!
My recently ordered PVC Flute/Low Whistle combo from Dixon arrived today and it’s a beauty. Selling for about $90. The Low whistle is exelent. Sweet, pure, haunting sound across the whole range and easy finger hole size/spacing, plus good response. The easiest low D to play among all of those I’ve tried yet, but a bit weak in volume in the first octave. The Flute is stronger once you get a sound out of it, I just recently managed to do that. It took me about two hours to figure out how to get a good solid tone. Offcorse I still miss ocationally. Since this is my first real flute experience, I’m no good judge but the sound is nice and strong and it works just well. Now this sounds like a good thing for all you whistlers who hasn’t yet got a flute to play. Forget the 12 months wait for an Olwell cane flute and go for this. It’s so cheap.
www.bigwhistle.co.uk sells them, or you can get them from Dixon himself, link in the high-end whistle guide.
