Does anyone know where I can track down the recordings of Dinny Delaney.I read in a post that they were made in 1899(!!)
Interesting,I never knew that Delany was from Ballinasloe,Galway as well, did Delaney and Touhey know each other?

You’ll find a couple of recordings of Delaney about half way down this page.

Touhey and Delanay probably never met although I’m sure that they knew about each other.
Touhey was born in 1865 but his family left Loughrea when he was 3.
It’s possible that Delaney (1836 - 1919) may have met Touhey’s father who was a piper too, as was his grandfather.

These 1898 cylinder recordings are of Bernard Delaney, not Dinny:

Taylor’s, or the Beauty Spot, and

in the Kitchen.
Ross’ page also two mp3s taken from 78 RPM recordings of Dinny Delaney, made somewhat later.
There is also at least one older cylinder recording of Dinny and two or three of Bernard that have survived.
