If anyone attends, please try to say hello to Deirdre for me, since they’re not coming anywhere near me in California.

Kevin, thanks for the news. I’m so glad that Deirdre has joined a band and begun recording again. She’s just too good not to be heard.

In the days of yore I would’ve gone to Philly, but it just ain’t gonna happen with a toddler.

Damn, they aren’t going to be in my neighborhood, hmph. :frowning:

Tonight’s the night!
I’ll let you know how it was.

Show was good.
Flute featured prominently in the sound mix. (C+F’s own DANCESWITHTROUT was working the sound board so that was no accident).
Oh my god! Has anyone seen this woman’s playing position! It hurt just to look at her. Left handed. Right shoulder stuck out perpendicular to her torso, and up about nose level. Shoulder pushes flute against her lip.
I couldn’t do it even just to show you, yet she makes it work for her.
Show was not very well attended, which was a shame. We have an embarassment of riches on the I-trad scene here. It’s hard to promote the umpteenth “First Rate Irish Band” that comes through.
Local boy John Whelan jumped up onstage at the end for a few tunes.
I think she has six fingers on her right hand.
They had keyboard accompaniment, It was done well enough, but I personally don’t care for it too much.
Tune selection was a little bit unusual, but refreshing. An assortment or jigs and reels, of course, but also some waltzes, bar dances, a couple of songs and even an O’Carolan.

Definitely worth seeing if you can.

Regards,
jb
