December update

If you have a minute and a bit of interest take a tour through my renovated shop. Comfort got more important this year than elbow room. Somehow I got everything I need for making whistles into an area that can be heated and cooled with minimal energy. It sure is nicer to open a door to the weather than to roll up a whole wall!

Merry Christmas all!

Brilliant Mack! Having spent some time in that very workshop the improvements look great and it keep you that much closer to Joan’s world famous French Toast!

I moved into a different room for my shop this summer. It heats so much easier now.

We Whistlemakers a good excuse for making our shops comfortable. They need to be at standard room temperature for tuning.

Good pics.

Brian and Daniel, I like those reasons!
Joan likes the lower heating bill and reduced residue from carpentry tracked into her kitchen.

Beautiful, dear friend! Nothing quite as nice as seeing a whistlemaker running free in the wild… And keeping a safe barrier between “the wild” and the kitchen!

French Toast, did someone mention French Toast?? Yum, I love French Toast!

Tom

Hi Cal, The wild is calling you!

Along with this improved environment there is still room in my shop to sit and visit and play a tune or two!

French toast, free whistle, and a place to outplay the whistlemaker on his own product.

Wow, that sounds good, and all this in Colorado, as well!
In my case though, unless the whistle player can only play an air or two, I wouldn’t be outplaying him!

Tom

Well its sure Compact :astonished:
I would have a hard time in that space!
Large pat on the back :sunglasses:

In the second to last picture of the new shop tour, on the far right, there is a device that looks suspiciously like a keyed silver flute. Is this a prototype of a new Mack Hoover line of flutes or, is there some dark force at work here?

Actually, I think it’s the old Gemeinhardt student flute I recently sent to Mack. I asked him to try making a whistle head for it since I don’t have either the “chops” or, the posture (arthritis in shoulder) to play a flute. I have however, been fascinated with the idea of a keyed chromatic whistle for some time.

Needless to say, Mack came through. A couple of weeks ago, I got it back and have been fooling around with it some, between bouts of hacking and coughing from a wicked cold. I won’t go into a great detail about this yet as I have only just begun to explore it’s possibilities. However, I will say that it works better than I expected and that Mack crafted a beautiful head for the old flute and finally, it sounds wonderful playing slow airs.

I will post some pictures and say more when I have a little more experience with this whisute, flusile (have to figure out something to call it).

Mack may indeed be the Worlds’ Most Fearless Whistle Smith. It’s been said that he can make a whistle out of almost anything. I have some old sweat socks lying around here and am thinking of asking Mack if he can craft a nice Bb ……..

Gotta go now, getting low on decongestants. :boggle:

I don’t know why, but suddenly my website is forbidden.

Email still works> I know because some folks have kindly notified me of the forbidden fruit.

Mack

Could I get an affirmation that my website is no longer forbidden?

Mack

Mack,
Your workshop looks great! I hope you have a great holiday season and new year!

Best,
Paul

The forbidden pages are once available in all their splendor!
