Christmas Music CD recommendation

There’s a good CD of Christmas Music on Ebay (20 or so). Price with shipping less than $4.50. I’ve got it and it’s really quite good. Nice whistles, flutes, pipes and so on.

There are others (up to at least volume 12), but this is the only Irish music one I know of. Others I’ve seen include brass, piano and flute, strings, saxophone, bells, and so on. Both Amazon and Ebay have a few of these listed–generally very good prices, but not quite the bargain this one is.

If you go to the recordings section of the Reid-Taheny website, they’ve recorded on three Celtic Christmas albums, one which was their own project and two to which they just contributed whistle, flute, and strings. I can’t vouch for these albums, but they’re two of the best Irish musicians working in North America.

Actually, I think Brian (Taheny) told me a story about recording a “Highland Christmas” album which I guess would be a fourth they’ve worked on. Something about the record company telling them they had two weeks to record, that was the name, and it had to have three (five?) different highland pipers on it. Gives you an idea of how these things get done…

Thanks for the tip. I enjoy instrumentals, so I placed an order for one also. But next time someone finds a good one perhaps we can order togeather and save on some shipping. :slight_smile: It was $1.79 + $2.69shipping= $4.48. And had we ordered several togeather the shipping would have been only $.99 for each addtional cd. Then with the money saved we could have … :laughing:

I’m glad folks are liking this. I think it’s pretty good music, though I worried that others might not. I actually bought a few more and have given some away to folks who have been at the house, heard the cd, liked it, wondered what it was, etc.

I see, by the way, that the person who sold them had a new listing for them on Ebay, though it ended today. My guess is they will come up again since there were a few left.

I am a sucker for this kind of music, so naturally I bought it, tune unheard (probably why I got into whistles). This person should put one or two MP3 files up for perusal - he would probably get more sales that way.

On Keith’s recommendation I purchased a copy also. I, too, am enjoying the CD. My wife really likes the guitar player’s playing.
