Captain Picard & his whistle

I know you can find thesis-level info about this subject on this site…

That said, I caught the Star Trek: TNG episode on SyFy tonight where the cerebral Captain Picard plays the whistle at his “son’s” naming ceremony. While we all know the story behind it (he didn’t play it, the whistle was fake, et al…), it is still nice to see the whistle getting some street creds on TV. And it was some tasty playing…

…even if it wasn’t a Low…

Search the Chiffboard for “Ressikan” (as in Ressikan Flute) for more info.

“The Inner Light” is still one of my all-time favorite TV episodes.

The Inner Light is my all-time favorite ST episode. The series, and Nemesis, has actually featured the Ressikan Flute a few times. If you watch carefully, the Inner Light briefly shows the grown-up Batai holding another whistle.

If you want to see Picard practicing on his whistle, you might enjoy the following YouTube vid.

Thanks for that. Brilliant.

OK, now that’s funny. Cleaning spilled coffee from keyboard … now.

What an excellent clip! I have been in a cruddy mood all morning, but I’m better now! Thanks.

That youtube clip is hilarious. Thanks for posting it. Although it does cut a little close to the bone…

Oh, that was great!

We watched that DS 9 episode today, before I came back to this thread. And I said, as O’Brien opened the box, in an excited fashion “Ooh look! An Overton!”

I have just watched the youtube clip, it’s well funny!!

Picard diddles again at 2:02 (but it’s worth watching the whole vid).

I know it’s getting off whistles but that last youtube clip was fantastic.
