For those of you who are interested - we rented the new Star Trek movie on DVD last weekend. In the Special Features section is a deleted scene called “Chateau Picard - 2263” In this scene, Data is alone in Picard’s quarters, and he picks up the Ressikan flute, and seems about to play it, when Picard walks in. Data quickly replaces the flute, and they have one of those deep conversations, blah, blah blah, etc. The instrument is not played, but there is a very good close up of it in it’s case. I’ll leave it to more knowledgeable folks to analyze the whistle itself.
