Capercaillie on BBC iPlayer (UK), and flute ident

On the BBC iPlayer at the moment is an hour-long concert by Capercaillie from this year’s Celtic Connections festival at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b03qvb5x/Cuirm__Celtic_2013_14_Capercaillie/ (only officially available in the UK).

As you might expect there’s lots of C&F-related content with Michael McGoldrick, Jarleth Henderson and Mark Duff all onstage and playing at various times.

Great programme - can anyone please identify the keyless wooden flute Michael McGoldrick is playing for a solo starting at timecode 15:40?

It appears to be a bamboo flute. At a guess maybe Chris Dawson Rhiannon flute?

I have a Rhiannon flute that came to me from someone who got it from Brian Finnigan, I was told that Brian was the UK agent for Chris Dawson at the time (mid 90s). Maybe Mike McGoldrick got it via Brian Finnegan.

Give me a shout the next time you are going to the Oran Mor, and I will bring it in for you to try.
