Ahhhhhhh!
After reading the following post in the announcement section of the forums, I was wondering what everyone is gonna do this weekend while the upgrade is taking place? I will be practicing for my St Patrickās Day program and catching up on the farm books. See you all on Monday!
Cheers

This weekend, the server on which the Chiff and Fipple Forums is hosted will be undergoing an upgrade which will necessitate making the forums unavailable for most to all of the weekend.
The server will be receiving a new disk controller and an additional 240GB of disk; since this server is used for a considerable amount other than these forums, the extended downtime is necessary to back up and restore the existing 300GB of websites, software, databases and mail stored here.
I expect the forums to be back up and going Sunday evening or Monday morning. Since the server is heavily disk-bound currently, I expect the upgrade to positively impact the performance of the new forum software.
Thank you for your patience during these upgrades.
go over to Gaelic Crossings. Aodhan is a respected member of this board, and has put up a commercial site that mostly echoes C&F. I do not see use of his board as any sort of disrespect of Daleās - it will keep us communicating, and, who knows, maybe another perspective. It is what I plan to do, because I just canāt effinā shut up!

On the 8th I will travel to meet our local brewer/whistlesmith/podiatrist (whooo hooo!) drink beer, watch trains and acquire my very own Busman (yes, Iām very, very happy). I will return home and play on this and that whistle, do laundry and plan some day trips for 49 days hence when we return to Erinās Green Shamrock Shore. On the 9thā¦grrrrrā¦I spend the morning back at work, and will go to session in the afternoon to blow off steam.
Lucky You Tyghress! I imagine the Busman will keep you busy the rest of the weekend.
Where are you going to see the trains at? I am hoping you are going to say they are at Pauls. My hubby is a train fanatic. Our whole basement is one giant layout! Maybe I will one day get to go get a Busman too.
Well letās see⦠I too have to do farm paperwork, taxes you knowā¦
just finished the winery paperwork⦠I do not have to work tomorrow, so that is a good thing, prune grapes, meet with marketing person, go to baby shower, wash 3 dogs- dachs x, pure x, skye terrier⦠clean house, prune grapesā¦practice church musicā¦prune grapesā¦sew crib bumper and finish quilt for new first grandbabyā¦make christening gown for previousā¦yeah, that should just about fill up weekendā¦oh yeah, cook some food for husband and son- in-law who will also be pruning grapesā¦
My wife Charlene and I really enjoyed Tyghress and Tyghreās visit to the sprawling Busman Whistles International Manufacturing Complex. Tyg brought along her bag of whistles, and we had āshow and tellā, went for a great dinner, etc. Alas, all of this took longer than anticipated, and her husband Tyghre had to miss out on seeing the Albany rail yards
Hopefully, on their NEXT visitā¦
It was really great to meet a fellow Chiffer face to face (only my second so far) and I hope to meet more of you sometime!

Tyghre has always been a railroad buff. We planned on going to the Albany freight yard, or the one (I think) in Troy, but we never got around to it! Paul and I yakked and talked and shared whistles, then the four of us went of and yakked and ate and had some beer. By then we had to head on back for the pets, and an Amtrack train whooshed by us at that very moment, as if snubbing its nose at us for missing the railyard. Geeā¦guess weāre just going to have to do it again sometime!
We go on these railroad day trips ā I always bring a whistle so I can sit in the car and practice while he stands out with the other guys taking pictures and talking freight lines ā they make him very happy!
