baseball

A check of Yahoo Sports Baseball this morning said that Fox was carrying the Red Sox-Yankees game at 1 and the Astros-Cubs at 4. The local affiliate didn’t carry either one. To their credit, they carried the Nationals-Phillies game (the Nats and Orioles are the local teams). I have no idea whether they even had a game at 1, I was so disgusted (The O’s played later, so it definitely wasn’t an O’s game).

My question is: The local teams play later, why on earth would a station NOT carry a game between the two most recognized teams in baseball, who have the most heated rivalry in (American) sports, last year played the most intense championship series in recent memory, and who are TIED WITH TWO GAMES LEFT IN THE REGULAR SEASON??? (Yeah, I know the Yanks clinched the East today.)

I grew up on the Munson-Nixon line, 80 miles from the Bronx, 100 miles from Boston. I bleed Red Sox red, and my 4-year-old can’t see a guy in a Yankees uniform without saying, “Evil Yankees.”

I knew there was a reason why I shouldn’t have clicked on this thread…
 I haven’t looking into scores from today yet. I hate the color blue at this time of year

My boys are the same way. They also very UNaffectionately refer to Derek Jeter as Derek CHEATER. So here in the land of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cleveland Indians, we are the sole wavers of the BoSox banner

go Cubs

“Yer average Cubs fan is 90% scar tissue.”

Yeah but did anyone warn me last year when I asked for suggestions for a couple of teams to cheer for. Nooo, you let me pick the Orioles and the Cubs. My heartbreak is your fault. You know who you are. Feel shame now. :frowning:

YANKEES ROCK!

Susan

I was wondering when you’d find this thread, Susan  There’s still time you know…I’d be afraid if I were you :smiling_imp:

I’m sad because the ESPN station that says it’s carrying the Yankees/Red Sox game this morning is actually showing a SCRABBLE TOURNAMENT! :astonished: :moreevil:
Ah…never mind…the station had the time wrong.
Susan

You sure we didn’t suggest the Tulsa Drillers… the gem (if not the best-scoring) of the Texas League East Division?

I have a better question, why would anyone broadcast baseball? :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t know what you’re all on about. Is it rounders?

Steve

..and how about that miserable Fox network yesterday, when supposedly broadcasting the Yankees/Sox game and cut away for about 7 interminable minutes to highlight the Cleveland/Whitesox game? We (the Red Sox, of course) were losing, but I still wanted to see the action. It’s bad enough that Fox gives us fake, biased news, but when they screw around with baseball coverage…

No. It’s more a sort of statisticians convention with a ball and a stick involved.

Ah, so we’re back on cricket again are we?

Steve

OK buddy. Take a shower, you’ve been traded to the Cubs.

Man! Harsh!

Pssst… Nah, Steve, it is rounders, mate. :smiling_imp:

When I read the first post in the thread I didn’t understand a word… :boggle:
