Let me add my whoo hooo as well! I was listening to the second game on WGN radio - I think Ron Santo was in tears he was so happy! It was great to hear after all heās been through with his health. Now on to the evil Atlanta Braves!
Note to Redwolf: Thanks for letting us have Dusty Baker.
-No more āā¦land of the free, home of the brave-and the doormat of the national leagueā (Steve Goodman-āThe Dying Cub Fans Last Requestā)
-Go Cubs!
Yesterday before the games on WGN radio they played that song, saying it would be the last time it would be relevant. Steve is smiling down on Wrigley now along with Harry Caray and Jack Brickhouse I am sure. Yes, it was great to hear Ron Santo yesterday - I think I am happiest for him. Today when they retired his number was so cool. Now we just got to get him in the Hall of Fame.
Dustyās great, but it was time for a change. Weāre doing great with Felipe Alou. In fact, come to think of it, weāre doing astoundingly with Felipe
Dusty does have the cutest kid in the majors, however.
I recall an opening day at Wrigley that was so cold that my hands and rear are still frozen. I think that it even snowed. So, itās about time that the Cubs thawed out
I think the Dodgers/Giants rivalry is a topic far more worthy of a flame war than any particular political issue.
The](http://www.windy-city.com/images/fire.gif">The) Giants should be rightly embarrased by their loss to Anaheim last year. And now, Barry Bonds will never again see a strike. May he never reach Hankās record. And your team will go nowhere without Jeff Kent and Dusty Baker, the latter being a very talented Dodger.
Iām picking Boston over San Francisco in six games.
Honey, my daughterās very first words were āBeat L.A.!ā
In fact, Iām predicting another Bay Area World Series, so the rest of yāall who live up here better make sure the old earthquake insurance is paid upā¦remember what happened the last time!
Now, now, my dear anteater, all Giants fans know the real reason you Dodgers fans like to trash Barry is because you wish he were yours! Now if your pitchers would only get brave enough to PITCH to himā¦
Beth - When I talked with you in Milwaukee you never mentioned being a Cubs fan. I knew you had unrevealed qualities besides whistle playing and being a real nice person to talk with. GO CUBS
Wow, they did itā¦this is kinda surreal. Iāve been a Cub fan, what, five years and Iāve already been trained to the wait-till-next-year itāll-never-happen- mentality. Anyway, they beat them Braves!!! Holy cow!!!
The first time I saw the Cubs play was about 1948. They lost to their AAA farm team, the Des Moines Bruins. Not an unusual event back then. It sure was great watching them (unfortunately only on TV) this season and especially this first playoff series. YES THE CUBBIES STILL PLAY IN CHICAGO and some nights in Atlanta too!
