Any whistles made in Ireland?

A friend is headed for Ireland tomorrow and has agreed to shop for me.

Is there a whistle made in Ireland that is not readily available here in the USA?

Please let me know right away, he leaves tomorrow.

Thanks.

Mike

You can pretty much buy anything here in the States, off the Net. Feadogs, Clares, Doolins, Waltons…you can buy them all here, but it might be cool to have one your friend brought back for you.

I just got back from 10 days in Ireland. Every tourist shop I entered had Feadogs and Waltons in bright colors and brass, including the Guinness whistle which is the same as the Waltons little black whistle. But, as Blackhawk said, you can get all of these in the US easily.

I don’t think very many places (if any) in the US carry Doolins.

Most high end whistles aren’t made in Ireland.

True, but there are some high end makers in the ‘Emerald Isle’
Desi Seery is producing a Delrin whistle now,as is Michael Cronnolly of M. & E. Flutes.
Cillian O’Briain, as well as ‘improving’ Feadogs also produces his own low whistles.

M&E… If you’re up on the border of Sligo and Mayo, you may want to give Michael a call.

Despite the lovely directions, I would HIGHLY suggest that you arrange to meet him in town and get guided back to his home. Tyghre and I are really good at maps, directions and wandering happily through the Irish countryside, but we could have gotten pitifully lost in this quest.
