Try searching on http://www.sessioneer.com for local listings. If there aren’t any, make one, so people can find you!
Phizillip, you might want to contact MarkB, as he lives in Windsor, and may know of stuff going on in Sarnia or Port Huron.
I don’t know what might be going on in the Windsor/Detroit area or in Michigan but most of the sessions I know about are east of London (where I live). The two that were going in London have terminated. Sessioneer lists one at Liam Brannigan but it is no longer going. There was also one at the Grad Club at UWO but I doubt that it will be started this season due to lach of attencance. If anyone who is close enough to London is interested, let me know and I’ll search for a suitable venue but the locals just don’t turn out.

I know that in Windsor there was a session at the Kildare House on Tuesday nights, where Mark B was a regular. In Detroit, the Gaelic League had something on Sunday nights, and the Irish-Canadian Cultural Club met on Tuesday nights also. All this is a little far to go from Sarnia, though.
I don’t know of any sessions in that area, but there are a number of musicians wandering around. There’s a good hammered dulcimer/harp player and a great young fiddler in Port Huron, and there are rumored to be a few mando players as well. On the Canadian side, there’s a pretty good band in Mooretown, “Celtic Offspring”.
If he’s willing to drive a bit more, there are a ton of things going on in the Windsor/Detroit/Ann Arbor area, and at least occasional doings in Goderich.
Thank You for all the help. Keep on tootin er..ah..um.. ,whistling.

There’s a new Coultas group in London, and some of the members live 30 minutes from Sarnia…
Janice, pardon my ignorance. What a Coultas group ?

She means Comhaltas, I think. It’s a world-wide Irish cultural group. For an example, the web page of the one I am a member of (in Detroit) is http://www.irishmusic.nu
Thanks for clearing that up, Colomon. I took a look at the web site. Looks like alot of phun. Wish I knew about that stuff growing up in Port Huron. My Mother claims that we went to some Highlands Games/ Celtic festivals when I was little back in the 60’s. I don’t seem to recall any though. I remember going to the Henry Ford museum and Greenfield Village. Is that place still cool?
I’d like to get back there next summer and sit in some sessions too.

I’ve got to admit I haven’t been to Greenfield Village or the Henry Ford museum in ages. Unless you count going to see I-Max movies at the latter.
There is the Sarnia Highland Games every August. Don’t know how long it has been going on though; can’t even remember if the first time I went was the 80s or the 90s. ![]()
Now days Port Huron has it’s own little Irish club, too: http://www.theirishamericanclub.org/default.asp
As far as I know, though, establishing a music program is still on their to-do list.
