Who is coming to Milwaukee this August? Any pipers from this forum?
Hey Jeff.
99% sure I’ll be there with my recently arrived Davy Stephenson set. She’s a beaut.
Jeff, I’ll try to get an email off to you tomorrow…
Joey
Joey,
Congrats on your new Stephenson pipes… are you going to post pictures?
I’ll be there with SIMACK pipes, playing at noon Saturday on the Miller Stage with Westwind.

Yeah, elbogo, I’m gonna drop by some time during the weekend…Haven’t seen the schedule yet so I don’t have any definite plans about who I’m going to make an effort to see.
Tommy Keane and Jackie McCarthy were a real treat last year.
Just checked out the schedule…NO SOLO IRISH PIPERS?! WTF?!
I might be tempted to come, when is it?
hmmmmm Joey won’t you be deeply involved in physiology or anatomy or something like that then?
Jeff (the other one)
Yeah, Jeff, more like American Government and some random history classes… 'Trying to tie up some lose ends in the general recquirements department before my last semesters here. I’m SUPER thankful for my country, but politics…not my thing, you know?
I AM just tickled pink about taking Organic Chemistry next fall. I hear such encouraging nightmare stories about that class…
What are the dates in Milw? Details? website? Thanks…it is only 300 miles south of here.

Milwaukee IrishFest - August 14 thru 17
http://www.irishfest.com/main.htm
Yes, Pat, you are right, and what a bummer… no solo pipers, in fact, an amazing dirth of pipers!! However, Emer Maycock will be here with AfroCelt, so that’s something.
Hey Anima, it would be great to see you! But hey, I thought I was the other Jeff. Kirk says that he has too many Jeffs in his life!
Good news! We have set up a piper’s gathering at Irish Fest this year. It will be on Saturday August 17th, 2:00 - 4:00 in the Sessions tent, right between the canine area and the Point Sports Pub. A first!!
A small start, but hopefully this will lead to bigger things, and possibly the formation of The Wisconsin Uilleann Piper’s Club.
See you there.
See you there.
Great Joey! It will be good to see you.
This promises to be a great, if not interesting start.
I’ll be around over the weekend and would love put a face with your avitar and have a few tunes on Saturday.
Hopefully I see some of you there
jeff
That was the same reaction that I had to this year’s Dublin Irish Fest in Ohio. http://www.dublinirishfest.org
In 2002 the Festival had Kieran O’Hare, Todd Denman and Jerry O’Sullivan.
Perhaps there was a secret touring pipers retreat/pool party for the month of August.
There will be 8 or 9 excellent pipers playing… (anyone know William Peden, the grand-daddy of Madison pipers, so I’ve been told)… during the 2 hour session. Sheila Shigley(?), Josh Perkins, Bob Golden… I don’t know, how many more will be there… could turn out to be the biggest pipers gathering in the Midwest!!
2 til 4 Saturday afternoon in the Sessions tent, near the Canine area… where You should come earlier to visit my 2 Wolfhounds. I’ll be wearing my Paddy Keenan hat…
And, of course, don’t forget, noon at the Miller Stage, Josh, playing with Westwind.
Should be a great piper’s Irish Fest this year!
Elbogo, thanks for the plug–sadly, the pipes got cut off due to time constraints and the wish to close with a set of reels that featured our excellent guest dancers. Maybe some attendees heard me using the pipes I was born with, which I can play much better than the ones I bought.
I had to leave immediately to relieve wife of new baby girl–how did the pipers’ meeting go?
