Hello, Just wanted to introduce myself since I just joined. Returned from a vacation from Ireland a couple of days ago where I picked up my first tinwhistle. I already play the Native American flute and just enjoy flute/whistle music. I picked up a brass Walton’s in of course D and have ordered a Clarke sweetnote D penny whistle. I am looking forward to learning more about this instrument and music.
Hi Michelle, Welcome to the longest whistle stop in the universe.
I hope you get as much support and fun here as I have.
Make sure to visit all the great stuff Dale has left lying around on the front page! There’s also a search function at the top of this page that can help finding answers to many questions (but it doesn’t hurt to ask anyway)
Hey Michele!
I just joined too, and these guys are wicked helpful! ![]()

First off, welcome…
There are alot of good people here who really will be more than eager to help you as they have me. There are alot of good sites, this one is in my top 3, that have ALOT of info and advice for us beginners. I have learned to read music basics in three weeks. I’m a bit slow but I will get there.
Have fun and happy whistling…

Hi Michelle:
Welcome to the Chiff & Fipple community, and the wonderful world of tin whistles. You must have heard some good whistle performers in Ireland, lucky girl.
Can you share with us some of your experiences on the emerald isle of hearing Irish traditional music, whistles included. In particular, what did you hear that turned you on to the whistle ?
Good luck with your whistle(s). Lloyd
And don’t forget to check out the Native American Flute forum!
