Flydoods thread about his Chiff Board anniversary got me thinking, and that takes a bit of doing.
In the past it was customary to open a thread to congratulate a member on hitting their 1/2/3/4…K post. This gave us all a chance to pay our respects to the member in question and say a few nice words about them. There are so many members nowaday that these landmark posts are commonplace and sometimes there can be three or four people hitting them at the same time. Many respected members have passed the mark without it being noticed and there are many who have been around for a very long time but have relatively low post counts. The practice has faded away of late.
I have come to the conclusion that the anniversary of joining the Board would be the perfect place for us to open a thread in which we could pay our respects to the member in question. This way, everybody gets treated equally and the frequent posters do not appear to be the most popular.
So let’s keep our eyes open for anniversarys and forget about high post counts.
Don’t aniversaries imply a kind of heirarchical seniority system? I think everyone should be nice to everbody else every day. Like Jesus would have. Or Ghandi. Or St. Colostrum of the Many Sorrows. Or Mel Gibson.

Good idea Dubh! But in the true spirit of Chiffly randomness, I propose we salute whomever we feel like whenever we feel like it.
