Six years a chiff and fippler.

Wow… In a couple weeks it will have been six years since first I posted here. Been more than six years since first I visited the site. Jim Stone is the only one of the top five posters who has been here longer than I have.

Time flies when you’re having fun. Right, Weekenders?

On Monday, the 28th of April, it will be six years here for me.

Perhaps I will make my 500th post then!

Hard to believe these six years have flown by so fast, Walden. Even harder to believe is that I have been here longer than you and that you are at least two or three posts ahead of me in the post count. I need to catch up.
Maybe by Monday.
Er…could we count my posts in chat too?

Been a great pleasure knowing you and chatting with you these past six years Walden.

Jack was five and twenty years a sailor.

I’ve got a few I could spare, if you’d like. :boggle:

The class of 2002 was indeed a memorable one. I believe Moon spoke for all of us in her valedictory address when she said, “Alan, that’s not guacamole. Do you think I left the sour cream out too long?” Still brings a tear to my eye.

Walden, I can think of no other Chiffmaster General who would serve his post with more authority, style, and goodness than you. It is a real pleasure to have “met” you (and the rest of my graduating class, too!).

Gads…I’m an upstart.

We must be the finest vintage C&F has ever grown…

And in that short time you’ve risen to the rank of Chiffmaster General…while
the rest of us are still just sad sacks. Oh well, ya gotta have someone to general over.

Does that make me an Elder?

C&F goes back a long ways.

I remember there was some other group list that C&F was on (think it was eGroups) and the group got bought out by Yahoo and became yahoogroups.

I think we had some other boards before this one also.

C&F 1999: http://web.archive.org/web/19990423055858/www.chiffandfipple.com/table2.html

There is a link on the C&F website that still links back to the old Egroups system: http://www.chiffandfipple.com/whistlehaiku/ Might want to fix that Dale.

Yup, and before egroups, there was one message board that had a nice java plugin that let you upload audio directly into the message body. I really miss that feature, still. Back then, there was a lot of little clips posted and collaboration.

I reckon I’ve been on C&F in it’s various incarnations for 9 or 10 years. And I still haven’t broken 4000. Though I suppose I have if you count the posts made with my previous alter-ego: http://chiffboard.mati.ca/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=97

Carol…you are hilarious…L

I kept the sour cream for our 10th anniversary party..everyone is invited of course…

Back in the good old days it was here–> http://www.wwisp.com/~dwisely/table.html

Has it been that long already? I thought you’d been here a lot longer than I have. This will be my 6th year too but I never heard of the place prior to it’s current incarnation.

I’ve been here since the good ole-pre Yahoo days also, I believe '98 or '99.
I remember the day a friend I was visiting told me about her friend, a whistler in california who was a chiff & fippler. I went straight home and joined. I had just gotten my first PC, an old used laptop with windows 95 on it and this was my very first experience with an internet community.I had it easy

I am living proof that a person’s worth is not soley determined by longevity.

7 years this june…on this incarnation of the board. I have no idea about the others before that. I wish there were a way to access some of those oooooold threads…

Tom

They used to be archived, for a long time…eventually the archive broke down, and few people seemed to miss it, I guess.

Well, it is now my official anniversary here at C&F.

Hooray for Walden, Moon, Carol and all the grand members of the Class of 2002!

I am wearing my old mortarboard in honor of the event and would toss it into the air had not the mortar dried and the board stuck to my head. I think an extra large tea cosy should cover it.

Time to celebrate. Where is that batch of guacamole that Moon knitted for the occasion? Ah, there it is but what kind of chips are these? Oh well… munch

Blimey…I must look up the class of '03 and see if it is near as auspicious a crew…
