Today (01/03/05) is my first C&F anniversary, and I’d like to thank all the folks that I’ve learned so much from–and all those who’ve provided so much companionship and entertainment, as well.
It’s interesting that I still feel like a total beginner when it comes to the whistle. I’d never realized that I was such a slow learner.
Congratulations Darwin. It seems like you’ve been around longer. You’ve certainly provided us with a lot more than a year’s worth of stimulation and entertainment.
Funny about whistles isn’t it. When I took up whistle I was told: they are like guitars, they’re the easiest instruments to play and the hardest to play well. Well, I’ve played guitar for decades but did I take the warning? Of course not.
I’m not sure that whistles as such are hard to play. I think that perhaps Irish music is hard to play on them.
Waddaya mean? That’s my own lovely face and sweet smile.
The hat, by the way, is a Homberg–transformed into the ideal banjo-player’s hat by removing the hatband and ribbon binding, filling with hot water, and punching to achieve the ideal shape.
Where have I been? You mean in real life? I’ve been on the (non-leather) therapist’s couch, of course.
I am the best I’ve been in years, actually. I have my disorders under control, I’m recieving free treatment, and I have a 4.0 GPA in school.
I have established contact with the closest (Quaker) Meeting but I can’t attend because I’m too far away and don’t have a car. They’ve sent me all kinds of stuff to read, though.
I’m trying to transfer and hoping I’ll hear from Berea College soon. Within the month I’ll probably be moving into a dorm somewhere, if not specifically Berea…
Darwin, sorry to hi-jack your post (blame Tom, not me!!!).
