Anima: Your case?

Hey Anima,

I was just browsing through all the old posts here, and came across some pictures you put up of your Davy Stephenson set. (I’m waiting for my own Stephenson practice set.) Anyways, I was wondering about that awesome case you have pictured. That looks REALLY nice, and I was wondering if you’d give me a lead on where I can pick one up…

Thanks!
Joey

20 bucks at Home Depot.

Jeff, I don’t remember seeing a case… what’s the link?

I don’t think Anima’ll mind if I post it again:

Check out (obviously) pipecase1.jpg and pipecase2.jpg.

Thanks Anima, there’s a Home Depot 5 miles from the house. What was that case originally for?

Joey

I think it was for anything, I found it in the toolbox section.

Wow… tight fit. but everything makes it in there. The problem I have is my B chanter is 23.5" Most cases I’ve found are 24" o.d. so there isn’t enough clearance. My intent is to carry my D practice set plus my C and B chanters.
I found a similar looking case used for guitar effects foot pedals that was 30" long. When I inquired, the online store had sold out and no longer carried that size product.
I may end up getting this:

It’s the right overall size but I’ll have to remove the inner divider to get the length I need. That shouldn’t be a problem.

Hey guys,
Anima, I like the case too. I use an blue suitcase for my practice set that I got at a yard sale for 0.25 cents. The case is a hard plastic and very sturdy (I got its twin also at the yard sale for 0.25 cents). It has two compartments. I use one for my practice set and the other for all my whistles. All of my stuff fits perfectly and snug, its really been a blessing. When I went to Pittsburgh this summer it easily fit in the overhead.

If you can’t buy a pre-made case ($), you should check Goodwill or such places for used cases. Sometimes you can find great deals.
Certain bassoon cases (once stripped of their innards, support braces and re-lined) make excellent cases depending on the outlet of your bellows. It is possible, depending on the set and bassoon case, to fit a full set. Though it is well packed (which isn’t a bad thing). A half set is no trouble and a practice set leaves tons of room.

Yard sales are great places to find old suitcases that may work. The ‘perfect’ sized case is very, very hard to find used.

Jeff, I think pretty soon your drones will arrive and you’ll have to find a new case.

By the way, who is playing the “priest.mp3”? Is that Kirk?

Hi All, for a pipe case you could try a camera shop, you should get one that would fit a practice set. Also try a GHP case which should fit a 1/2 set upwards. To see some nice cases check out http://www.kilberry.com They have cases for GHP’s SSP’s etc, they’re in Scotland but they also list prices in dollars. If you go for a proper pipe case it’ll cost more, Someone suggested a suitcase, sounds like a good idea, I had’nt thought of that, a small hardshell type should’nt cost too much even new.

Cheers, Mac

Edit to correct link, Sorry.

I made a decent case for my half-set out of a Mastercraft tool box. The bag, mainstock and bellows fit in the bottom. I use the accessory tray for my chanter, drone-ends, tuner, reeds, etc. I padded the whole thing with bedding foam. Cost me $40.00 CDN total.

Tony,

Here’s some 35" gun cases up for auction on ebay. 'Might fit your need?
