I recently heard an Afro Celt Sound System tune on liveireland.com. They have three CDs out. Does anyone know which is the best?
(I prefer instrumentals to songs with vocals)

Mmm, tough one…
Each of their CD’s is different from the next. I like them all, but if my memory serves correctly, the first Afro Celt CD has the least number of songs. It’s also the most “Acoustic” sounding of the three CD’s.
The second CD is more Dance oriented than the first, and the newest CD sort of continues that, but also includes songs with vocals by Robert Plant and Peter Gabriel, along with songs by the band’s singer.
I’d say I listen to their current release most, followed closesly by the second CD. The First CD doesn’t get as much play in my house, which is sort of odd since I usually favor acoustic over techno type stuff…but then Afro Celt mixes the two so well on their later CD’s that I prefer the newer stuff.
Your best bet: Check Half.Com or something similar and find yourself used copies of all three for the price of one ![]()

Hmm, good idea. I may have to do something like that. Thanks for the info, Loren. Anyone else have cd reviews for me?
As an aside, a good place for used CDs is http://www.djangos.com - I got my Lunasa ones there for half price.

I take it that this Afro Celt Sound System is a band and not a genre??
Have a look…
